Matt Bartles and the new welding equipment!

Florida Training Program Enhanced by $25K AWS Grant

The Florida Carpenters Training program is honored to announce that it has been award a $25,000 grant from the American Welding Society.

With the funding, five Lincoln Electric FlexTec Multi-Process Welder machines were purchased for both apprentice and journeyman upgrade training. The machines will be used for millwright training at the Tampa Training Center. Millwright instructor Matt Bartles (pictured) said the new equipment is a welcome enhancement, and will replace old equipment.

“These FlexTec welders helps us to keep millwrights trained and up-to-date on the latest equipment that they encounter in their work.” Bartles said.

The FlexTec platform is designed for both jobsite or fabrication shops. The welders are easy to setup and easy to operate, yet rugged and flexible enough to be used in construction, fabrication, shipbuilding and other heavy-duty applications.

The American Welding Society also operates a Foundation with a mission to positively impact welding education. The Welding Workforce Grant is the Foundation’s latest effort to ensure a skilled workforce is ready when industry calls. These grants improve and expand training programs and institutions to increase the number of welding graduates across the country.
